Lassie, which was founded in 1893 as a trench Mercury, is market leader in the rice sector in the Netherlands and part of the Spanish Food Group Ebro Foods. Lassie has a market share of 30% in the Netherlands and produces, in addition to rice products with a turnover of 12,000 tons, including the well-known Lassie Toverrijst and Lassie Rijstbuiltjes, flower for industrial applications with a turnover of 22,000 tons. Lassie has approximately 65 employees at the production site in Wormer.

The task
Lassie’s request was to fulfill the role of Interim Maintenance Manager for a period of 6 months, to manage and improve the daily maintenance processes and to raise the level of profesionality. Also to support current projects in the field of maintenance.

The approach
At the beginning of the period, a future vision and the dominant value driver asset utilization were determined by means of a VDMXL current state analysis. Through planned new construction, the activities have concentrated on dismantling the old head office, renovating the newly acquired Mercurius office building, reorganizing the infrastructure and restructuring the technical department. The role of Maintenance Engineer was introduced as well as SAP within the workflow for corrective and preventive maintenance.

Mainnovation’s added value
The added value of Mainnovation was the transfer of knowledge, both with regard to maintenance processes as well as SAP and performance management.
