Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC) is an international marine contractor in the offshore oil and gas industry. HMC transports, installs and removes all sorts of offshore facilities. In the last 10 years, the importance of Maintenance and Equipment Management has significantly increased due to the ever increasing complexity of the equipment, the risk of deviations and the increasingly rigid mandatory regulations.


The Task

Heerema asked Mainnovation to provide support for the process design and the implementation of the Infor EAM asset management system for Equipment Management, Projects and Logistics.

The Approach

The implementation of the VDM Process Map was initiated to serve as a guideline for the process design of Infor EAM.
In addition to the process design, a great deal of work was also performed to develop a uniform Asset Breakdown Structure (ABS), so that these structures would be consistent across the different type of ships.
Throughout the entire transformation, Mainnovation managed the Infor EAM implementation by providing project management and implementation consulting services.

Mainnovation’s Added Value

Mainnovation was able to structure and accelerate the project on the basis of the VDMXL approach. The contribution of expert knowledge related to processes and the EAM implementation, which on the one hand helped accelerate the project and on the other hand resulted in greater acceptance of the Infor EAM system within the HMC organization.
